Some on Chubbuck Council Show Little Regard for Citizens

Watch your pocketbook and your valuables, the City of Chubbuck is budgeting!  The City doesn't seem to care that many of the streets are unsafe.  In fact, many of the of the roads that are currently in okay shape will be in significant disrepair since the streets may be maintained once every 10 years (5 miles/year) with the first streets probably not getting any maintenance until 2015 at the earliest.  The City needs $300,000 to start maintenance on 5 miles.  They won't have that any earlier than 2015 maybe later.  How does your street look?  How will it look in 2-3 years?

In addition, the City appears not to care much about the employees either.  When discussing the budget some chose to start talking layoffs -- even though no one was talking about laying off anyone.  Almost a threat?  That has nothing to do with the additional issue of employee safety, but hey, they're just employees -- what do you expect?

I do appreciate Councilmen Ellis and Marshall at least asking some of the questions we all are wondering about.  I don't have to agree with them (although on a lot of key points I do) to feel that they are trying their best to uphold the trust the Citizens gave them as elected officials.  I especially appreciate Councilman Marshall due to the fact he stands his ground even when he's being "bullied" to be quiet and learn because he has only been there a year.

It's important to note that most of what Chief King says here has not
changed in the last 6 years.  He was complaining about safety when
I was on the Council.  Of course, when push came to shove, the Chief
said there weren't any safety issues, the Department was fine.  Which
is it Chief?

Anyway, as you can see, I definitely have an editorial opinion.  Please, watch for yourself.  Make up your own mind and share your opinion.  WE WANT TO HEAR IT, whether we agree with it or not.
