With all the "stuff" going on at the City of Chubbuck I wouldn't blame you all if you feel like you're being trapped in red tape. We thought we'd give you some highlights of the wonderful public meeting for the Chubbuck FY 2014 Budget.
If you drink, you may want to pour a stiff one, or two. Beer or wine will work too, you'll just have to take more breaks.
Seriously, the Councilmen are talking about issues that will impact the entire City. Private citizens and commercial development will feel the pinch if we don't get our act together and deal with the challenges the City has ignored for the last 30-40 years. Remember, look around, talk to your neighbors, look at your property tax assessment and know that the lion's share of your taxes are going to the City of Chubbuck. Not the School District, not Bannock County, not Bannock County Road and Bridge, not the School District, not the Portneuf Library, but directly to Chubbuck and close to $2 million of that goes directly into the Chubbuck's Urban Renewal. So watch, with a keen eye.
Although a budget is a "best guess" it doesn't mean that you should ignore it . . .
The scuttlebutt is that Councilman Marshall wants to cut employees. I don't hear him say the word "layoff," do you?
Foregone Balance? Does He Know What He's Talking About?
Councilman Ellis tries to explain forgone balance and levy rate.
Cha Cha Cha . . .
Always the cuts . . .never look at how you spend your money! Sorry I meant to say OUR money.
Citizens will give money if it's worth their while . . .
